Does this machine offer a software that will allow me to adjust the power settings (i.e. on battery/AC) so that the I can make battery go a long way, control fan speed, etc.

    Thanks

I use I8kfanGUI and Notebook Hardware Control (NHC) for my D620 and I can control the fan and CPU voltage, etc.
