No, you're not going to be able to upgrade this card. Also, what do you mean about not being able to play games? I guess it depends on your expectations but UT2004 will run.

You can still play games! I have the same integrated graphics chip and it is fine. It even allowed me to play Need For Speed Underground 2. However, with all the quality setting down. But it still ran fine and was pretty snappy. But, no you won't be doing any hardcore gaming. And no, you cannot upgrade a laptops graphic are only only about a 1/2 dozen laptops out there that allow you to upgrade graphics this includes the Alienware, and the Dell XPS. However, it is still recommended that you have a professional install them. But, there is no way to install another graphics chip.

Do you think I can run Sims 2 smoothly on this system? I had a Dell with integrated video and it would constantly get choppy until I got an ATI AIW.

Sims 2 should run relatively smoothly with setttings in the medium category.

Buy the emachines M5410 instead of the M5405. It's an extra $100 and well worth it. The M5410 is the same as the M5405 but it adds a DVD+-RW burner and ATI Mobility Radeon video.

Haven't seen the 5410 in USA but it's available now all around canada both at the Futile Shops chain and Best Buy. Costs Cdn$1299 (1 Cdn$ = 0.8 US$) so that's US$1040.

Best Buy in canada sells *both* the emachines 5405 and 5410, so why doesn't Best Buy in the US have these?
