I have an emachines M6809 laptop and have heard there are ways to get the full processing speed out of the laptop when using the battery power and am wondering how to do it. Have tried the power settings, always on trick..does not work. Heard clockgen works, but I don't know which version to download and how to use it. If anyone can help (with what works 100% of the time) and instructions (detailed) on how to do it, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Emachines tech support stated there is no way to do it, so guess a bios update from them will not fix it either.

If you look in the faqs section of this particular forum, there are instructions for what you want to do. The speed issue isn't an issue on Win2k, but on WinXP. The faq says something like "install the powernow driver by righ-clicking on the powernow setup program, and selecting *Windows Compatibility Mode*" (or something like that).

Again, read the faq. The answer is there.

I’ve read somewhere that the eMachines 68xx series notebooks are equipped with speakers that have mini-subwoofers. Can anyone verify this?

Nope, no subs. The Sagar 8790's have an opional sub. The Emachine 6809 (at least mine anyway) is a little lacking in the sound department. I think this is a problem with the majority of laptops.

I've found this link ( http://www.epinions.com/content_136899169924 ). This is where I read about the sub-woofers. Perhaps this guy is all wrong.
