Can anyone link me to a driver for the DVD drive in the eMachines E627 laptop? The drive is the Optiarc AD-7585H, it is not listed on Acer/Gateway/eMachines website.

I am trying to find this because it doesn't recognize any writable media when I am trying to create the recovery discs. Device Manager says that the device is functioning properly but Windows did not load a driver at startup.

a DVD drive is automatically detected by Windows. It uses a generic drive which is already included in Windows.

Please try alternative blank DVDs (from another make). When you burn them burn them at a low speed so the recovery image doesn't get correpted.

had the same problem before but for an external usb drive...seems like most, if not all, cd/dvd drives are already supported on most PC's nowadays..generic is the right key term there
