I have an eMachines M5405 that on boot displays the message "For Evaluation Only, Not For Resale" at the bottom left side of the first BIOS screen.
A number of other users have reported this same message. See the last several messages at the bottom of the following page: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/arcmessageview.php?start=80&catid=18&threadid=404101
I have contacted eMachines tech support regarding this message and was told that no BIOS download was available for the M5405. eMachines corporate office essentially called me a liar and said that (1) the problem did not exist, and (2) if it did, it was because I had modified the BIOS.
I REALLY hate being called a liar. I will be sending a certified letter to both eMachines and AMI, but would like to gather as much information as possible from others who have experienced this same "For Evaluation Only" BIOS message.

It seems that in the free version, you may need to copy the report generated in Sandra into a wordprocessing or text editor and save that to a file. I was unable to determine how to save the report directly in Sandra.
I will share the response from eMachines and AMI on this forum and will send a personal response to all who provide me with the results from their Sandra mainboard analysis.

I have sent you a email so you may contact me on this matter. Generally BIOS companies such as AMI, Phx. can not provide updated BIOS. We lis. our code to companies such as Arima or Emachines. So we do not even have the code to give you even if we wanted too. All updates must come from Emachines. Generally most manufactures provide updates for a minimum of one year. This unit was manufactured in 2003. Some really good companies provide these updates for 2-3 years.
The issue you are having concerns AMI as well. When we here of a BIOS that is released with the following message "For Evaluation Only, Not For Resale" this should not be release to the public. It could be a test BIOS, evaluation BIOS for Q&A. Who knows. But we are investigating this matter. We can not provide you a update but we are going to speak to the parties involved and see if we can get you a answer.
