    my laptop only recognizes 1gb of ram and ignores the second card my computer says i only have 1gb installed 768mb usable when i have both cards in what can i do to fix this? i have tried two different sets of cards and they both only say 1gb installed

    It can really only be one of two problems:

    The memory socket is bad or the memory is bad. Test the known working stick in the non working memory slot. Test both sticks of memory in the known working slot.

    This laptop supports up to 4GB's. If the memory socket is bad, just buy a 2GB stick for the working socket.
