So last Black Friday i got a E627 for about 200$ and I've upgraded the cpu to an TL56- at 1.8ghz. It's been working fine but I'm really missing how much screen real estate I have at home with my eyefinity setup. Is it possible to upgrade the laptop's LCD?

I've been doing some digging around and it seems like the LCD plugs into the motherboard and the inverter (which also plugs into the motherboard via the same cable) and there are two different standards for the LCD-motherboard connection (30pin and 40pin). Mine is 30 pin. So could one of these LCDs:

    15.4" 1920x1200: LP154WU2-TLA2 15.4 inch LCD Screen | LCD Screen for LP154WU2-TLA2
15.6" 1920x1080: CHEAP LAPTOP SCREENS, LCD panels from $49. Dell, HP Compaq, Toshiba, Acer, IBM Lenovo, Sony, Gateway, Apple, Asus)

And plug it into my existing inverter? Would I have to buy an inverter for that specific screen?

If any of these screens work (physically fit) you would need an inverter that goes with them.

Do you happen to know your current screen part number? Use it for compatibility check.

    cheers ...
