I'm trying to use an external enclosure with my Pioneer 106D DVD writer and failing miserably.

It will work if I hook it up as a 1.0 device using a hub but it is way too slow for normal use.

The default windows XP drivers do not work work with the Myson chipset in the IDE to USB 2.0 conversion [xx(]

This is a very common problem - any ideas?

I found an odd problem the other day concerning USB. I bought a wireless mouse/keyboard combo and noticed that it doesn't run smoothly on the back 2 USB ports. The two USB ports on the left side work fine with it though.

Maybe you can try switching which set of ports you are using.

    Hope this helps...

Oh I've tried everything with this Myson chipset external enclosure.

Different ports, USB1.1 hubs (which work!) different cables, HD.

There are numerous people with this problem as I have now discovered!

It seems to me that the enclosure is the likely cause of the problem [|)]
