I switched out my 6809 for the 6811 after cracked hinges...
if anyone else did that... did their PSP's get transferred..I was so excited I failed to ask...I called 1-888-BestBuy, and they said my PSP was still active, but only on my 6809.
I am hoping the PSP is still active....
Thanks in advance all who reply...

My PSP was transfered from a m6805 to a m6809 to a m6811. They should have done it at the store when you did the exchange. Take your receipt back to the store and have them do the correct paperwork

Do I have to go back to the store? or can I do it over the phone? anyone know? The nearest Best Buy is an hour drive, and my days off are few and far between, and my shifts are 9-7...kind of hard to get down there...and, is there a time limit...I want to get it transferred ASAP, but I just want all my bases covered.
Thanks in advance

I don't know. I would call the store you did the exchange at and ask them. They should have transferred the PSP for you automatically.
The PSP covers all exchanges up to 1 year. If you are within 1 year it should have been transferred. -
I bought my dad the 6809 for fathers day from Best Buy. I bought myself teh 5309 earlier in the year...well his hinges cracked and they gave him a 6811 as a replacement. (we had the Best buy warranty)
-
I did this 3 times. Originally I had M6805 with a dead USB port. Then I got a M6809 with cracked
hinge and flickering screen. Then I got a M6811 with again cracked hinge and flickering screen.
I am now on my 4th 68xx unit (a 6811) for about 1 week. Everytime I did this the PSP transfered
to the new computer. I even got additonal rebate for the last replace.
The BB manager told me, the PSP will carry over as long as you get the same brand replacement
and as long as you're in original manufacturer warranty period which is one year for emachine.
If you get another brand, or, need replacement after one year, the PSP voids. In this case,
they will either send the unit back for repair (no replacement) or you have to buy new
PSP.

Harddrive, what was the thing with your PSP? I complained to BB and they said that the cracked hinge was wear&tear and not covered under warranty. Now i have this thread to show them.
thx -
Java Dev,
what do you mean? I don't understand the question fully, but I did just get home from work, lol.
If you have the BB warranty OR it has been less then 14(?) days since your purchase BB should trade it out. What do you have? the 6811? that is what I recieved after the trade-You can speak to rep via a phone number on the site www.emachines.com (it is a long distance call though) they will send you a box in a few days or weeks, depending...(on what, I don't know) (man I am tired..) and then you send back your notebook, they pay for shipping and whatnot.
But they also wipe your HD, from what I hear. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me HDMainframe AT hotmail DOT com

I bought my M6809 and the extended warranty at BB in May of this year. Just noticed the cracks tonight (don't know how long they've been there.) Did BB charge you extra to upgrade to the M6811? It seems to be basically identical except for the processor. Were you able to swap your hard drive from the old unit into the new one?
One thing that concerns me-- Best Buy doesn't seem to be selling emachines notebooks on their website anymore -- what happens if they don't have them in stock and don't plan to sell them anymore? (By the way, I also checked emachines website-- they could find NO stores within 120 miles of me-- and I live in the second largest metropolitan area in the US-- OR any online dealers that sell the M6811. Doesn't bode well ...)
I'm planning to head down to BB tomorrow, warranty in hand! -
Yes, they exchanged mine, and they swapped HD's too. I offered to pay the difference which was actually $108.00 in my favor, so I got a gift card, and then rebates. But the dvd drive of the 6811 vibrated, and so I took it back, exchanging it for another 6811, which also vibrated...but I got another set of rebates. So tomorrow, Sunday (Oct. 24) I am going to go exchanged it again for the 6809. (Having already calling the BB in Wichita Falls, the mamager said I could, though he didn't like the idea of me switching some many times, I do care, but I also want a laptop that doesn't vibrate) The guys at BB are really cool and what not, having received over $500 in rebates, and a $108 gift card. So I have made out like a bandit, but all in all I just want a working notebook.
Good Luck

Well, they wouldn't exchange mine. They said no exchange unless I meet the "lemon" rules (i.e., I have to bring it back several more times.) So they're sending it out to have the bezel replaced. It's gonna be there for at least two weeks. Grrrr.... At least I still have my old (emachines!) desktop that I can use in the interim.

You shouldn't have done that...
Emac will fix it, and the turn around time would have been alot less, AND I hear Emac's repairs actually work.
Oh well, we can see how BB takes care of it's customers.
