Hi all, I recently updated my XP Pro with SP2 and now my 6809 won't wake from standby. I have to hold down the power key until it shuts down and then reboot. Has anyone else had this occur, and any suggestions on how to fix it. Thanks.

    Hi Perry,
make sure you have the latest BIOS update in your notebook. If that does not fix it, then you need to either uninstall SP2 or get by without standby until Microsoft or eMachines fixes it. You are not alone, there are tons of people having problems with SP2 and it won't be long until SP2 is updated I'm sure.

I think some have upgraded to the BIOS for the m6811. It should be noted though that other brands have this problem and MSFT has delayed the consumer launch of SP2.

there is a windows fix for this issue in notebook computers, you have to do a search for it on the windows site, or you can e-mail them and they will get you a link for it. I don't think its a SP2 problem but a window's XP problem, it effects few enough people they don't have the hotfix on there update site.

I flashed the BIOS and it fixed one issue, but created another. You all have been so helpfull already, maybe you have seen this before:

I Flashed the BIOS as suggested and it fixed the standby/ shutdown issue. I couldn't watch becasue I was so nervous. Using Winflash and the 6811 BIOS using the directions found on the link and the winflash site worked great except for one thing- I can't find my wireless network anymore. I don't think this is a SP2 issue because I found the network just fine before I flashed the BIOS. Any advice on this one? (the device manager shows no problems)

Is your wireless keyboard toggle on? When I did it reset my wireless setting to off. Simple FN-f2 turns it back on.

I tried that and IT WORKED. Thank you, hey, have you noticed a much longer time "loading personal settings" after logging in. This slowed way down upon installing SP2, and wasn't really helped by flashing the bios. Thanks.
