when ppl talk about ppl being "able to" to "stable at" about OCing, does this mean that is the highest theyve gotten it to run AND it being stable like its the optimum for the computer? and at those settings, will the proc and or vid card still have the same life and not degrade as fast? thx
-
i have read that atitool will report the highest settings for radlink... if this is true, should i run it, and then lower it about 10 or so?
-
also, how do ppl find a stable OC for their proc w/ the m6805/6?
-
also, with the proc at 2ghz, will i have to worry about overheating? or is that not a prob at all?
-
The stable OC for the processor is hit and mis. Most people will be able to run at 2Ghz while some can go higher and other can't. The problem is that the PCI/AGP bus goes out of specification if you go above 2Ghz (well it is out of spec as soon as you increase the FSB). I leave mine at 2Ghz, that way I do not have to worry about data corruption. If you start messing with anthing higher you risk it. The same thing applies on the desktop A64 chips, there is no AGP/PCI lock (ie you can not lock the frequency).
As for the video card, it has been repeated many times that the ATITools utility will determine you safe OC for you. -
Just so I am clear on something...overclocking the procesor and or video card will void the warranty? I bought mine at Best Buy and got their 3 year deal.
-
from wut i hear, i don't think so... just don't fry ur card or proc and u won't have to worry about it cuz when u send it in to best buy u should just set everything to default just in case...

I have a few things to say about OC'ing and warranty.
If anyone posts about getting warranty work done on a OC'd machine I will delete the post. It is considered fraud to do this. OC'ing is clearly not covered and albeit hard for the manufacture to tell and you can get away with it. It drives up the cost to the end user.
Yes the ATITool will tell you the "stable" OC and yes I for one lower it by a little. -
ok
thx!
