    For some reason, my eMachine notebook's sound is screwed up. The sound is abnormally shrill and soft. Do you have any suggestion regarding this problem?

    Have you made any changes to drivers recently? or ticked the wrong box in the sound control panel? there are many possibilities.
    What were you doing when the problem first occured?.
