My "Reconditioned" M8605 arrived today and I am trying to figure out if the Serial # is one of the ones that has had an issie with cracking hindes. The S/N is: RH31914070820

This does not seem to line up with any of the S/N's in other posts. Maybe someone can figure it out for me.

This seems to be a beautiful machine. It bears no evidence of ever having been used and I have had it for about three hours and no cracks!

Problem solved. It is a refurbished laptop so a new serial number was issued for it. I am asuming that the hinge problem is fixed on this machine. I have had it for several days and still no problem.
