Which would I benefit more from 1GB pc2700 ram about $150 or a Hitachi 7200rpm 60 gb harddrive for about $150? Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I should mention that I use this machine for 2 main reasons. Gaming HL2, Doom 3, Halo and for Graphic Design ie. Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator. It seems the load times in HL2 are sooo long, but the game plays smoothly, so I don't know if a faster harddrive would help the load times more or if more ram would help the load times. The ram I am thinking about is Crucial 1gb pc2700 for about 220, fry's is out of stock of the premium 1gb for 150 it's a shame.

If you already have at least 512MB of memory, I would do the hard drive.

Yeah, I have the stock 512mb of ram. I went ahead and ordered the 7200rpm 60gb hitachi drive today along with an external usb closure. So now I am just assuming that I install the new drive in the usb enclosure plug it in, format it. Run ghost and ghost my entire harddrive to the new external one. Swap the 2 drives, internal becomes external and vice versa and voila I'm done. If i got anything wrong up there please let me know. ps. I have an 80gb internal with bout 40gig used.

I personally prefer to do a fresh install. It takes longer but then I can leave all the extra stuff I don't want off. It has been awhile since I used Ghost. I'm sure the procedure is covered somewhere in the manual. I use Drive Backup. When I install the OS, I make a small 7GB partition to install the OS. That way if my installation get corrupted, I do not have for re-format the entire hard drive. The files on the second partion don't have to be deleted. You can use Drive Backup to make a backup of the entire boot partition. Good Luck.
