I have the M6809 Notebook and have just started reading these forums which I have found extremely helpful as I begin to start to upgrade my computer. I noticed recently that my GHz changes when I check the window of my properties on the My Computer Icon on my desktop. I have seen it vary from 2.00 to 1.60 to 801.0.....is this normal? Thank you in advance.

This is normal. It's speedstep technology wherein the processor doesn't normally go any faster than it needs to...might go as slow as 600Mhz for a while...until you open a graphics editor and it jumps to 2.0ghz.

I beleive you can turn this option off under power management (the plug/battery icon in the system tray links you to this feature)

However, with the overheating issues I would let it go as slow as it wants ;)

    Hope this helps!

Actually AMD calls it "Powernow Technology". Put the power setting to home/office when plugged in it will run a flat out 2.0ghz. Overheating shouldnt be an issue with a mobile 64, and with the way the fans are on the back of the m68XX series just like the gateway 7XXX series. When i plug mine up I put it on home/office since saving battery life isnt an issue. When i unplug it i change the power management back to portable/laptop, enabling powernow. Intel P-ms can go as low at like 335 mhz to save battery life, but thats crawling. yours shouldnt go lower than 795 mhz
