Hello, I apologize first for my bad English since I use a translator, I am Spanish.
I've been reading this post about processor compatibility for an e725, but doing a little research I found the Core 2 Quad Q9550, Core 2 Quad Q9550S and Core 2 Quad Q9650 processors with 12MB cache.
The only appreciable difference is the TDP, the TDP in 9550 95w and the TDP in 9550S 65w. The 9650 are 3,00 GHz.
The important question would be, would it be compatible with my e725?

Thank you very much and excuse my bad language again.

No it wouldn't be compatible for multiple reasons.
One is that you are looking at desktop CPUs which will not be recognized by a BIOS in a notebook (why would they?), two TDP of 65W with a notebook cooling would be too much and 95W would make the whole thing overheat instantly, although risk of that happening is mitigated by the fact that you don't have a PSU that would provide enough power for such a CPU to run properly.
Third thing is - you're looking at CPUs that have a 1333MHz FSB and trying to use them in a notebook that uses 800MHz FSB.
Fourth - CPUs you're looking at as possible upgrades use LGA775 socket while the ones that the notebook originally used are either BGA479 or PGA478 (don't know which one but it doesn't matter since neither is LGA775).
To sum it up there is no chance that would work.
It would be best if you upgraded to something that someone else had confirmed is working...mastercoin likes this. -
Correct, I had not noticed that in the post mentioned above uses an 800Mhz processor, I got carried away by the emotion.
This is the processor that the partner chose, i think.
