Our Emachines notebook has had problems with the screen going black in the middle of using an application. It's not related to the screen saver. It's almost like it's going into hibernation mode because the normal hum becomes almost completely silent. When it goes black we have to re-start it and we usually lose whatever work we had on the screen. :(

I'm at work so I don't know the model # off hand.

Any suggestions? Is this a common bug?

Your power supply or A/C may be faulty, because that's what happened to my desktop a few years back.

Do you mean the plug that came with the computer or the wall outlet itself? I was leaning more toward a problem with the graphics card.

Could be with the power settings. Right Click on the battery in the the little icon tray on the bottom right of the screen. Click on adjust power properties and click on the different tabs on the top of that menu. Might have to do with something like, that is the only thing i can think of :) ;)
