    Hi!
I have a unusial problem with my laptop (6811). It turns off by itself without any reason. It does it and during sturt up and during normal work. It does it whan it on battary and when it on AC power! It turns off like somebody disconnected the pwr from motherboard. It doesnot restart or something... it just turns off!

Please if somebody had the same problem or sombody who has any ideas what it can be please let em know!

EMachin tech support told me some reasons: RAM problem, virus, overheating. But I have one of the best antivirus installed with firewall. Absolutely no overheating because it can happend during first sturt up, when system is cold. I would not believe it is a RAM problem.

    Thank you all!

It does not take long for your CPU to warm up, not saying thats it. Memory sticks do go bad on occasion. Maybe as a first step run the virus scanner and check for spyware. You can run memtest to test the memory, but it takes a while. HD tune is a good hard drive utility. I would comb thorugh msconfig to make sure nothing is turning on with Windows that shouldn't.

i would take the heatsink/fan apart and do a good clean up, put back together with some good thermal paste. it always does the job on the m68xx and some 75xx machines.

this guide allows u to get at least to the heatsink/fan

I had the same problem with my m6809. I can tell you what worked for me :D . I believe there is 2 vents in the back (dunno, its been a while since I've had mine). Put your mouth up to the vents one at a time, and blow very hard. Be careful, you might get a face full of dust. After doing that, i never had the problem again.

Thank you all! I will try everything you recomended! One more question: I istalled PC Wizard 2006. I think I should have temperature reading on tab "voltage, temperature and fans" but I have only voltage and temp for hard drive. but no temp for a processor. (no temp on processor tab also) Is it Ok? May be I got temp. sensor disconnected or something?

m68xx do not offer CPU temp reading ability.

    cheers ...
