I just got a new 6810 yesterday and it looks like most of the time it's running the cpu at 800 instead of 2000 and that's plugged in. Anything I can do to get it to run at 2000? Thanks.

Tried it on battery power and it just runs at 801 at a full charge.
Where are bios upgrades found for this board? I don't see any driver or bios or any kind of updates at emachines.com.

I'm not sure exactly, but I believe the processor speed adjusts automatically to save battery power. If you start running more apps, it should adjust to a higher speed. I don't know how or why this occurs, maybe somebody could elaborate on this.
However, if you want to keep the processor running at full speed, go to Power Options in the Control Panel. Switch to the Always On power scheme. Now, System Properties should show the full 2GHz clock speed.
This will use battery faster though, so if you are off of AC power you might want to go back to the original power scheme. -
Normal operation is locked at 800 on battery. On AC there are three steps: 800, 2/3 speed and full speed based on processor load. If you want more info, "Search" is a particularly convenient way to get your questions answered. "Power Now" is a good term to start your Search with. AMD forums or Notebook Forums have a ton of info on this subject.

to direct you more specifically, just install the PowerNow software from AMD:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/AMDPowernowver3.04.EXE
after you've downloaded, and before installing, set the properties of the exe file (right click the .exe file, select properties), go the to "Compatibility" tab, check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows 2000). Install the program. once installed, go to control panel -> power options -> powernow tab -> set to "High Performance Mode" on both to keep computer at 2000 hz.
good luck! -
A quick question, I also have the M6810, I understand that it runs at 800MHZ when uplugged, but when it is plugged in and I look at the system page, it says that it is only running at 1.6ghz instead of 2ghz.
I checked the bios, it says that the processor is 2 ghz so is this just a glitch with windows?
I downloaded the below mentioned program and it did not put a powernow tab in my power options?
Just wondering

I have a 6809 and I was having a lot of problems with windows. So I Used the restore DVD and that was bad. Then I tried a regular copy of Windows XP. That worked great and the processor speed is ALWAYS 2.00Ghz even on battery power. The only downside is that the battery lasts about an hour and you have to manually install all the programs you want. But everyone does that anyway...

It is not an issue ate all with faulty hardware or software. The software included with all eMachines notebooks is programmed to throttle the CPU, on battery or AC. It is not only a power-saving feature, but a heat reduction feature as well. The system will generally only run at full throttle only when taxing the CPU or its subsystems.
By installing a retail version of XP, you can have the computer run at full speed all of the time. But remember, this is a notebook, with less room for the air to flow over the CPU. This means running at full speed all of the time increases the risk of having your CPU fail (and might cause an uncomfortable feeling on your lap). -
There is no need to have the CPU run at full speed all day long even when plugged in. I did some test and as soon as you need teh extra Cycles it will speed up.
imho a beatifull system that works really well.
