I get the following message on my M6805 Emachines Laptop:

"The device driver for the "Smart Link 56K Modem" device is preventing
the machine from entering hibernation. Please close all applications and
try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver."

The driver is: Smart Link 18/08/2003 Version 3.40.6.240

Restarting does not help. How can I close this application and how do I
prevent it from loading in the future? I only use the modem when I am
away from my ADSL at home or WIFI on the road. It does not need to be
running all the time. I believe I can disable it from Control Panel but this might
be a little confusing the odd time I do need it.
