i have seen a lot of people asking "how come my cpu keeps running at 800mhz when im on battery?" and have seen a lot of fixes for it. Look for a program called SpeedswitchXP. It makes it's own power profile and runs your proc at the speed you want. pretty nice little program. happy computing. [ :D]

Hi Matt, If you use this program to run your AMD64 at full speed on the batteries, how long does the battery last? 30-40 minutes maybe. I'm interested to find out.

    Thanks
    Jack

It is in the FAQ on how to get to run at the rated speed on batteries with out using Speedswitch.

The steps in the FAQ do not work if you are using the 6809. They only apply to the 6805.

I will testify that this SpeedSwitchXP program does work on the 6809. I just installed it and adjusted the settings, and to my delight the CPU speed is displayed properly in both AC and battery mode. Until SP2 comes out for XP this program will hold us over, thanks for the tip.[8D]

Hi, I have a 6508, 2 days old. What FAQ's are you referring to? My friend was trying to help me with this today, apparently powernow either doesn't install or we couldn't access. I'm going to try this speedwitch if I can find it.

Sorry, I meant 6805! Too late+bad typing= lots of mistakes! I got the powernow tab installed , seems to work fine. My only question is: Does power now make the processor speed increase only when needed or should I see in My Computer-Properties-General the speed go from 800 to 1.8? It switches to 1.8 immediately upon plugging in (actually, about 1.6 with power now on), but I don't seem to see anything change when I push the processor on battery (I tried normalizing a file in sound forge, which spiked the cpu pretty high). If there is a change reported, where would I see it? I saw on here somewhere someone mentioned a powernow graphical interface, I can't seem to find that. ANyway, thanks for your help so far.-Mark
