I just got my emachines m6811 notebook about 3 weeks ago, i had sent it back to the company for repairs and when it was returned it doesn't recognize the battery. when it's not even plugged in, it will still say that it is running on ac power in th system tray. also when it is plugged in it won't show that it is charging, i havn't even seen the battery icon in the system tray since i got it back. anybody have any idea what is goin on?

If it was sent in for repair, they may have accidently disconnected or forgot to put something back to allow your battery to charge or be detected. See if the contacts are still on the notebook that makes contact with the battery, if not or if it's broken, this would explain it.

the contacts are there, but you may be right about them forgetting to connect something that won't allow it to recognize the battery, but i can't sent it back because last time i did that they had it for 3 weeks (it was supposed to take 4 days.) so there's no way i'm sending it back. but if i have to i guess i'm gonna.

Are you sending it back to eMachines or to the shop where you bought it? You may want to try shipping directly to eMachines, this may speed things up, or at least be done right. You may also want to complain to eMachines about this, you send the unit in for one thing that is supposed to take 4 days, but it takes 3 weeks and then screw something up in the process. See if you can get a new replacement unit. Doubt they would give you a new one, but maybe they'll give you better service instead.

I have the same problem with my m6811. I bought a refurburshed one week ago. I am thinking about sending to emachines for repair. I called the support and they told me to drain the battery (refresh) and not use the notebook for 24 hours...

Could this be a bios issue.. I know when i was messing with my m6809 and flashed the bios to one of the gateway bioses, it didn't recgonize my battery anymore.. Maybe check your bios and see what version it is and maybe flash it with the latest 0F08 bios.. Just an idea.
