My 30 days of Norton will be expiring soon and I'm looking at alternatives. When I checked out the restore DVD I could not find a Norton install so my first question is:

Is Norton included on the restore DVD and where can I find it on there?

Second, if it's not available for a re-install and subscription renewal, is it possible to keep Norton installed and install a trial of another AV (I would like to try Panda Titanium) at the same time?

Third, has anyone tried Panda on a 6811 ... how does it compare performance wise to Norton?

    1/2/3. I don't know [ :D]

Have you tried looking at avast though? It's very nice and is free, actually like it better then most paid ones.

There are very few problems that can't be solved with explosives.

I'd recommend AVG Free edition (www.grisoft.com) or a quick google will turn it up.

The top recommendation for free AV software is AntiVIR which did not work out well for me as it kept giving me 100% CPU useage on DVD playback and the movies were unwatchable :(

Read this rundown of AV programs:

    http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=33&threadid=1375461&enterthread=y

Give both of those a go - you'll be happy whichever one works out for you [ :D]

Tell it like it is...NOT how it should be :)

I was not asking for any AV recommednations but had three specific questions:

    1) Where is Norton install on the M6811 restore DVD, if at all?
    2) Is it possible to have Norton and Panda installed at the same time without problems?
    3) Performance reports of Panda on a M6811 or other similar notebook.

With a tone like that I doubt you will get any replies!!

    1. Browse the DVD it si on there somewhere.

2 not recommended as you probably know. You can run panda with Norton inactive. I don't expect any problems. Just dont run them at teh same time!

    3 dont know , I recommend AVG [ :D]
