The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

I just purchased one today, but I have yet to start it up.
What do fellow owners like and dislike about theirs?

Is there a forum other than notebookreview for us owners?

    what, notebookreview.com isn't good enough [V]

just kidding, i understand it's valuable to have a very focused forum, but i'm not sure of one that exists for eMachines. There's a lot of folks around here that own the M6809 so I think your in a good place, just search around the topics under this forum. Of course checkout what ReverendDC had to say in his review of the M6809 that's linked to on the front of the site right now.

Yeah I had only read two unprofessional reviews, and one professional review of this machine prior to purchasing it. I was quite pleased ReverendDC's review after I got home with my new M6809. Few things are worse then buying something, and then finding out that certain people in the know think it is a piece of crap.

So question 1 for fellow M6809 Owners:
What the hell is BigFix that came preinstalled onto the computer?
Is this some form of spy-ware/tech support?

I have a copy of XP pro, I am thinking of doing a clean install, but I figure I would give the preconfigured set up a whirl for a while.

BigFix is a catch-all program for updates and notifications of drivers, etc. For the novice user, it is useful. Honestly, though, if you are an expert user, you will probably be updating your programs before BigFix has a chance to notify you.

The XP Home preconfigured with this system is pretty stable. It is a good idea to try it before installing Pro. For 95% of apps, it is the best choice.
