I puchased my M6809 from Best Buy and have been running it stock.
I recently read an article in Mobile PC stating that the 6809 benchmarked no faster then the 6805. I found this disturbing, however either way it is a large upgrade from 1.5 P4 desktop.
My question is there ways (short of overclocking)to optimize the notebook for gaming proformance? If not how hard and safe is it to overclock this book?
My only change from the stock set up was downloading different video card drivers.
Are there new drivers for the AMD chipset? New improved BIOS?
What changes from stock are advised for gaming?

I would not overclock the CPU. When I benchmarked my system, I found a significant upgrade over the M6805's mobile Athlon 64 3000+.
The ATI MR 9600 is easily and safely overclockable (of course, I take no responsibility for any damage caused by overclocking, etc...). I did not go overboard with mine for battery and heat considerations, going with a 351 MHz GPU clock speed and 208 MHz VRAM clock (stock: 300 MHz and 200 MHz). This seemingly minor and small upgrade gives me 1000 points on 3dMark01 and a considerably increased performance with FarCry. -
Good to hear it.
We are at least talking about the same game.
When I play far cry and set it to auto configure it defaults most every setting to low.
With new drivers and the over clocking what settings can you run 30+ Frames Per Second at?
