    Hello all,
I would like to say that I have exactly the same issue with my M6809. I have a logitech MX300 and MX510 and they both exhibit this behaviour. It is not for every bootup but at least once every 6-7 starts. It seems to be a software/setup issue because this is my 2nd M6809 (the first had a defective DVD drive) and the first did the same thing.
I have not been able to find anything conclusive on the web - all updates for WINXP are installed and the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers are installed.
Any insight would be appreciated !

Short of removing the drivers and re-adding...I don't know what to offer. Any mention of this on the eMach support site? This has to be a known issue by their support squad.

I own a m6805 and have the same problem using the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks. Unfortunately I don't have a solution! But...I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. [ :D]

I don't know if this will work, but you may want to try disabling the Power Management for the USB ports in the Device Manager. There's a check box that allows the port to disable the device connected to save power, this may be causing a problem at startup. The power management settings are under the Root Hubs, if you have multiple, disable power management in all of them.

This is how you get there:
Control Panel -> System -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager Button -> USB Controllers

I was having problems at first with my ge optical wireless mouse. I disabled the power management on all 4 usb ports. It still did not work. I then had the bright idea to try a different usb port. it works fine on the usb ports on the back, fully recognized. the usb ports on the side detect something, but they do not recognize it. Does this help anyone? Or are my side ports messed up (I just bought my m6805 this morning)?

My computer will recognize the wireless mouse connection on the rear (actually any) USB port, too. It even works when I restart my computer (not shut down). The problem is when you shut down the computer completely and restart - the mouse is not recognized now and I have to manually unplug the mouse's USB connector and replug it for it to work.

What I want is for the mouse to work at startup!

Aha! I think I've got it!! Actually, Brian's suggestion of reinstalling the drivers prompted me to do a Windows search for the Touch Pad program by Synaptics. I found it under Programs->Synaptics->SynTP->Media->Setup.exe. (Scroll down, it's under the language folder options - you'll find it!).

I installed the program (I must have uninstalled it at some point because I really didn't want to use the Touch Pad), shut off my computer, did a restart and Voila! My optical wireless mouse loaded at startup!!

I hope this will work for others, too. Please give it a try and let me know!
