Hello there.
I was thinking of upgrading the CPU on my M6805, and found this thread:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=722447&page=34
and
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=35712
and
http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php
Yet, when I put either the NS.00.05, 0F08.P01E or 0F08.P02E BIOS, my machine boots into Win XP and then freezes while loading. I downgrade to the 0F08.P00 and everything works fine.
Now, I don't know if a simple re-install of the OS will solve the problem - maybe WinXP gets somewhat whacked with the new BIOS.
Anyhow, the reason I am trying to update de BIOS on my M6805 is that I want to upgrade the CPU. According to those threads, the 0F08P01E or 2E are needed to get working an Mobile Athlon64 4000+ correctely.
Now, I see Arima has listed two W730 models on their page: the W730-K8 DTR and the W730-K8X. Since I have a Mobility Radeon 9600, I guess it's the W730-K8 DTR; and the BIOS page mentions the 0F08P01E/2E as the correct BIOS. Am I missing another variable? :S
Also... I am not able to find and Athlon64 4000+ anymore - saw one on eBay, but hesitated to buy it and now I can't find one. But I was wondering... since it and the Turion ML34/37 look somewhat similar... do you guys think I would be able to use it? Has anyone tried/done it?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: Oh yeah! I haven't ACTUALLY tried the 0F08P01E since it comes as a .bin, and phlash doesn't know what to do with it :S

I have several of these arima 68xx laptops the best I could get to was amd 3400 cpu tried a 3700 and no boot. the NS bios is for the gateway version and will cause issues with activation. I do have a m6805 with 3400 and 2gig of ram with 7200rpm 120 drive running Vista ultimate. it scores a 3.4 becuase of grafics
the processor is 4.3 mem is 4.7 hd is 5.1. all in all pretty damn good for a 3year old laptop. kicks crap out ANY NEW laptop with integrated grafics. I too saw that some claimed to have 3700 and 4000 working but NO specifics as to which arima laptop, BTW these are NOT the DTR version of the arima, they are true
AMD mobile versions -
cheers ...
