    Hi,

As the other emachines M5310 'victims', I had the overheating issue all the time. According to a forum post, I opened the keyboard panel, unplugged the CPU fan and cleaned all dust. After that I plugged it back and assembled everything. Unfortunately, the fan does not start up by itself anymore even when the CPU is hot. I need to open the keyboard panel again and use my finger to push it so the fan starts working. Now how can I fix this 'side-effect' issue? :(

    Hey Jeff,

If you are still around, check out the Unofficial eMachines Forums.

I had a M5310 and this site was a daily habit.

PS: Sounds like the fan is simply broken - can you replace it?
