Turn off the wireless card, unplug the USB stuff, turn off the Hard Drive, lower the screen brightness, turn off the status leds, set power play and acceleration options on the vid card, stop any unneeded processes, underclock the processor... Lots of ways to save battery, however, I've always gotten at least two hours without doing any of these.

    First PC = Vic-20, 8" 128KB Home-Brew Floppy Drive ... Current Rig = eMachines m6805 ... Quantum Leap?

Best Buy sells catch-all external batteries that will cover you for up to five hours (advertised). I have not tested them or anything, but it might be an option for you.

    Good luck!

Stick with DivX if you go this route. Also remember that the hard drive also utilizes a good amount of power, especially those spinning at 5400 or 7200 RPM. Stick with the stock 4200RPM drive, though, and you should be able to pull this solution off.
