I could not resist the price and the specs. Now I am just dreading the appearance of crack hinges, otherwise I am pretty excited with my purchase.

Why didn't you get the M6811?

50 more dollars is all it takes.

I am getting a M6811 (unless best buy lets you upgrade a video card on one of their sony's)

    I love soup.

There was an extra $150 rebate that ended yesterday, thats why I got the M6809 instead of the M6811, I saved $200, but that deal is over.

The 6811 has the same hinges won't they crack as well?

Everyone is assuming that the hinge covers will crack, but this is not necessarily true.

Also, it is the hinge covers, not the hinges itself. Even if they crack, the damage is cosmetic and does not affect the operations of the machine.

Also of note is that eMachines has fixed the problem. They have admitted to having a faulty batch of hinge covers, and willbe replacing them. notebookforums.com has a thread dedicated to it with an emachines TS person with all the details.
