I just purchased an Emachines m6805 from Best Buy with that $250 rebate that was advertised. I have read these forums for a few weeks, and all the positive comments on the M6805 made me want one for my first notebook computer.

My question is about video card overclocking. I know next to nothing about it. Is it something "safe" to do, how much performance gain can be expected on it? Is it going to blow up my machine? Is there a website that can explain how to overclock and not have to invest in cooling pads and such?

I do not know if these links will help since you have an ATI as opposed to an Nvidia, but give them a try:

If you look in the FAQ posted above it describes how to do everything you ask. ATI tools will tell you your safe OC.
