I posted in another thread about this, but figured I'd ask the question directly.
I just purchased a used M6805 and will be receiving it this week. I'm going to be replacing the 3000+ with the 3400+ and putting a stick of 1gb internally. I know that some of you here have the detailed instructions on how to disassemble this specific laptop and am hoping you can send them to me at [email protected]
    I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

And we should eMail the directions to you because you couldn't find the search button? Or read the Sticky at the top of the page?

    First PC = Vic-20, 8" 128KB Home-Brew Floppy Drive ... Current Rig = eMachines m6805 ... Quantum Leap?

Wow, apparently you didn't read my question. I know there are detailed instructions, not the vauge, 2 picture ones in the sticky, out there. Orion7144 has them and in the thread entitled "M6805 steps on changing out the memory nside", he says he has them, will not post them, but would send them via e-mail. Those are the ones I was hoping to get.
I did search, but they are not posted for download anywhere. Thank you, though, for the very sarcastic response. I was only looking for help. Guess I got a little more than that.

Found the 3400+ DTR at newegg.com for 209.00 plus 1.99 fedex shipping. I figured it was a pretty good deal and that from what I read here (using the search function), it works ok in this laptop.

I suggest you save your money, the performance gain in real world applications will be minimal and not worth $200.

So you are trying to say that going from a 1.8 to a 2.2ghz cpu would not provide any real world gain? Well, I'm going to have to disagree completely with that statement. Games in particular would benefit significantly from the faster cpu. There are many, many games (anything quake 3 engine related, for instance) that are cpu limited. Changing to a faster cpu will most definately help. I will give you the fact that it won't help things like surfing the web or word processing, but that is not why I bought this laptop. I bought it so I could do a little gaming while on travel for work.

Check out this link and any benchmark u want. The procs comapared are diplayed in red bars.

    www23.tomshardware.com/index.html

The 3000 will feed data fast enough for that 9600. YOu will not see that much difference.!!!!

As you will see the difference in the quake engine is 10% is that really worth $200.
