Well, I took my cracked 6809 back to Best Buy today...9/26 and they changed it out for a 6811. They changed my HD out too, and then here's the kicker to all this. The 6809 was $100.00 MORE then the 6811... for some strange reason. So they gave me a $108.00 gift card, which I bought FarCry, GTA:VC and Enter the Matrix, plus a Nyko AirFlo controller... The cute chic behind the counter also gave me her phone number...just kidding, but she did give me two receipts to send in for rebates...for up to $250.00! Some sorta school discount rebate or something. Everything works wonderfully and I am very happy with it.

Goes back to installing his games...

Let me know how the full version of Far Cry runs for you.

I've tried both demos so far and both run like shyte if you ask me :(

Or at least according to my vast previous desktop experience of playing FPS games it runs like shyte to me that is!

Quite often I am just about to shoot one of the bad guys and I get what is similar to lag when playing online - the whole game freezes then the next thing the guy is lying dead on the deck!

Frame rates are generally slow too, not silky smooth by any stretch of the imagination (at stock clocks or OC'd to 408/210)

I was playing at 1280x800 with medium settings?

Also decided to try the IGI Demo last night and it also sucked.

For some reason my M6810 does not seem to like demos at all :(

Tell it like it is...NOT how it should be :)

    [ :D]Yes, I am....
As far as FarCry goes, I haven't installed that yet, got caught to much in GTA:VC however...I have played the demo. I play mine @ 800x600, with MOST of the settings on low. (Actually, I use the 'auto-detect feature' found in the video settings.) The demo for me runs wonderfully, as long as I am not running to many other things at once. (I role-play chat using an IRC, and sometimes I go back and forth between the two.) You never mentioned how much RAM your using, so of course, the more RAM the better in this case. (I have stock 512) BTW, GTA runs beautifully, unless you pause for a moment, but it only freezes for less then ten seconds, but it is an older game...
ETM runs great as well, but again, an older game.
I have to get ready for work now, but I plan to install FC (all FIVE discs) when I get home from work.

Told it like it is, sugar-coated topping not included.

    P.S. What's IGI?

P.S.S. If the rebate is for Best Buy Bucks, then yes, more RAM. But if it comes in check form I am prolly gonna get my G/F an engagement ring.

    Update on FarCry...
I finally had time to install it...but after disc two, it kept on getting an error, asking for disc 1 but the screen before that asked for three. So, after trying to ascertain a solution, I just put in one and the reinstall intro came up again. I promptly exited out of it and then entered three and pressed okay. I had to do this process for four and five as well. But, it worked! All my settings are on low, and my screen is at 800x600, not really using that widescreen huh... But..I get no lag hardly ever, and I am enjoying the game very much, but the difficulty is...unique. I hope this answers any questions anyone has about FC. Oh, I also have 512 standard, that's it...I am sure if I get more RAM that it will improve greatly, it being graphics, and over lagginess, so I might be able to put it on high or at least medium.
I did OC my VidCard though, 421/222. My only complaint about this laptop is I wish it had a removable and replaceable card. But hey...that's my ONLY one... :D Well I am going to go play me some FarCry.

    L8R!

    Hi There,
I tried playing the game at the lower screen size and it is improved but certainly not at the acceptable level of smoothness I'm used to in other games.

This a very nice looking game which really needs the higher screen resolutions to do it justice.

IGI = Project IGI (part 2 in this case)

I'll just have to complete XIII with silky smooth graphics then try something else later [ ;)]
