I have a 6805 with xp pro installed.

The configuration of my USB 2.0 ports seems to be alright, I installed the drivers from viaarena.com and then service pack 1. I have an external 3.5 HD enclosure which says it's designed for usb 2. To that unit I have pluged in a maxtor 40gb 7200 hd. The enclosure is a blueye mobile hdd and on top it says "a smart storage". It has an external ac adapter which is always plugged in,.

When I plug in the enclosure to my laptop, it detects everything and even shows the hard drive on My PC.. It also shows the hard drive from device mgr with proper model.

When I double click the hard drive, it says it does not have access to the drive.

I remembered having the same problem with the same enclosure on other usb2 computers and also reading about people having the same issue, so I plugged in a usb1.1 hub to my laptop and to the hub my enclosure. With this setup it works properly but, of course, 1.1 speed sucks.

I was wondering if anybody out there has the same issue... I am pretty sure that my usb2 setup in windows is ok because my usb thumbdrive works properly at usb2.0 speed.
