I have a emachine notebook M6410. I just loaded XP Pro on my notebook and also a desktop that I have. I had both computers connected via a wireless router. Since loading XP Pro, I can no longer get a connection on my notebook. I get a message that says "Incompatible driver version found. Unable to load application"
I called emachines, and found out that they do not support XP Pro since they only sell their laptops with XP Home. The only suggestion they had for me is to use my system restore disk and put everything back the way it was.
Does anyone else have a suggestion that will allow me to use XP Pro?
    Thanks!!

Here is something interesting I just realized: when I installed XP Pro, I got a message "Found New Hardware Wizard." I seem to be missing the software for Intel Graphics Platform (SoftBIOS) Driver. I don't even know what this is!!!!
The other interesting thing is all My Microsoft Programs aren't on the laptop. (Word, Excel, Publisher, etc) Does this have anything to do with the missing Graphics Platform Driver?
Does that missing driver have anything to do with why I can't get my wireless internet?

Thanks for the response. It sounds way too complicated for me. Think I'll back up what's on my notebook and do a system restore and go back to XP Home.

HELP!!! Did a system restore... put in 1st disk- went okay and asked for 2nd disk. Then I get a message "Output A:Ghosterr.txt
Yes or No?" I chose yes, couldn't find file, I chose no, couldn't find file. Tells me to contact Symantac for help. What does this have to do with emachines restore. Never asks for 3rd restore disk.
Tells me to press a key to reboot. Then just get a screen that says press del for bios setup.
Any suggestions? Of course emachines help desk isn't open this early!
    Thanks
