First, let's turn off caps lock.

Second, on battery, the notebook throttles down to 800mhz, to conserve battery power and to create less heat. This can be disabled with a app called PowerNow!, but you need to do a few things. (I won't go into details unless you want to do it.)

If this is happening on AC Power, go to Start>Control Panel>Power Options. Change the Power Scheme to 'Always On'. (Notebook/Laptop will put it on 1.6Ghz.)

    Hope this helps.

Change the "power" setting in the "control panel" to "desktop" and you'll be running at 2ghz. If you use "System" to check your speed, if it reads low be sure to repeat the process (click "system")
I bought a refurb M6809 from TigerDirect on Mar 2 - no hinge cracks yet, sp2 messes things up although I haven't flashed to the m6805 bios yet[B)].
Yep, the "insert" key is in a very bad place and dual "control" keys, one on each side, would be handy - I'm thinking of hotwiring the Windows key on the right with the "contol" key on the left. I'm sure there will come a time when I have to remove the keyboard and take off the back panel. Does anyone know if the back panel is secured with screws or with mashed plastic pins, or something else?

I bought a m6809 refurb from Tigerdirect on Feb. 22, a month later I have cracked hinges.. So just a heads up, but emachine will replace it cause of the warranty if it happens within the 3 months... I am just not sure if it's worth it to send it back to eMachines.. Everything else is pretty much great on the machine except some weird DVD things (being able to press the bezel to open the dvd, annoying)
