in preparation of EQ2 launching I am looking to max out my memory (if affordable) or simply get the best deal of swapping out the 256 stick for a 5XX stick.

For those of you who have upgraded your memory? How much did you pay?

for those of you thinking about adding a 1gig stick to your emac... what is the best deal you are seeing out there?

The memory from outpost.com did not work for me. I had to return it coz the machine would not boot. I got mine from memoryx.com for $299.00, they allowed me to install and test it before paying for it since they were local.

    interesting post.
Over 200 for a stick of memory is a little rich for my blood.

the outpost/frys memory is on my door step (so if you know where i live feel free to go steal it)when I get home I will know if it works in my m6809.

    wish me luck.

How is EQ2 running now as opposed to before the upgrade? I have a stock M6809 with Omega drivers OCing the GPU to 350/210, and my desktop which is an AthlonXP 1600, 512 DDR 2700, 80gig 7200rpm hd and a 128mb Radeon9200. The desktop is kicking the crap out of my laptop performance-wise. Its not just load times(which yes, it is a night and day difference, but I guess thats mostly because of the HD speed), its also graphics performance, settings are pretty much the same, and my lap top is stuttering and jumping all over the place, where as the desktop is relatively smooth in the exact same situations. Anyone have any suggestions to improve performance? How big of a difference does the ram upgrade make?

that sucks, i wrote a long winded responce and it said i had to log in so i hit back put my name and address and posted it, and thats what you got.

Now to the memory with EQ2. Night and day, works wonders, I thought the game was hampered due to my 5200rpm harddrive, and it may be, but the memory cleared up all problems i had with the game. Loads 3 or 4 times faster. I can now zone in a fraction of the time (literalry- it use to take me sometimes 4 or 5 mins to zone, now i zone in just seconds).
It also helps general computer proformance. Where as it would take a min or two for my computer to shut down after i was running a few programs, now it will shutdown in just seconds.

    amazing.

i cranked it pretty high up at first and it ran fine, untill i got in heavy combat situations then. So i put it to defaults, or balanced, and it now runs smoothly all the time.

When i didn't have the memory i had to turn everything to as low as possible, and it didn't even look that bad. Way better then eq1 use to look.
