Hi, I am having a weird problem lately. When I put my 6805 into hibernation, every time I start it back up, about 1o seconds in, the fan starts blowing, then the computer shuts down. I have to restart to make the problem go away, and I cna only restart when windows gives me the option that there was a problem and asks if I should restart normally or go into safe mode. Any ideas? I recently used msconfig to disable so startup items, but this happened a while back too then suddenly stopped. The computer is in my bedroom, which can get hot, but it occurs when A/C is on. But, the AC is on the same circuit (I have no choice and the computer is on a UPS with Voltage regulation), and it happens when running on battery as well. I have the computer on a tilted stand as well (targus lap desk in folded configuration, has vents on it). Any ideas? XP pro, SP2, most recent BIOS, DEP is disabled.

In the case that you disabled something in msconfig that is needed, here is a site that can tell you about certain processes. Check all of the ones that are disabled, and judge for any importance to start up.

In any other scenario, Im clueless...

This is a common problem that has been discussed at length here.

It is not an OS issue. It has happened to one guy running Linux. For me it happens usually on battery although I have had a few instances of it happening on AC.

I have had it occur while booting and while in XP. My fix which of course is only a band aid, is to boot into the BIOS screen for about 20 secs and then exit out and boot into XP. That fixes it usually.

EMachines has no clue. Read the above thread, you may see a common condition with another user that could narrow the problem down.
