    Yeah, that's amusing, NOT amazing...

So I finally completed and mailed my 5 page epic to the president of Best Buy.

OK. Remember in my other post update that DEX was supposed to send me OS and system board software?

Well, I haven't received it yet. That's not a huge surprise, though... and it helps my case.

I talked to the local Geek Squad minion today, and DEX has been avoiding his calls, blowing him off, and ignoring him. So he's going to press for a new machine.

Still NOT what I want, but progress. I actually want a full refund. I don't think I'll get it, but one can hope, right?

So, if I get a new machine, what brands should I look at? (YES, I will read the review forums).

Just wanted to share. I wonder if my letter will mean anything or if it will have been a waste of time.

Until next time... I'll just keep updating this thread.

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, Gateway isn't in it's brightest condition, so I'd stay away from them for now. As I mentioned in your previous topic, I was looking at HP. I still do like their machines, but I am leaning towards Sager now. I've looked around.
    Other brands I've considered:
    --
Apple - too expensive, problematic, and I hate mac
Asus - I've heard awesome things and sickening things. Honestly, they just don't appeal to me
Dell - We already have a couple Dells around the house
Fujitsu - Once again, not appealing
HP - My second choice, only because I want something a little different
LG - Not sold in US
    MSI - Boring look
    Sony - Expensive
Toshiba - Very bad keyboards (IMO) plus, 2 Toshibas around house too

Just remember not to purchase from Bestbuy ;)

So.... my letter hit someone's desk, and combined with the factor that my Geek Squad minion had a great networked contact through BB, he was able to receive a junk-it approval for my emachines m6811. I got a complete refund except for the PSP (which, to be fair, I probably used well sending my machine back for so many repairs) and ordered a new Mac. Of course the refund was a store credit, not cash, so I had to order it through BB, but I will probably purchase the AppleCare warranty through Apple.

Just waiting on my new mac to arrive.

Incidentally, the Geek Squad manager has been having the SAME issues and runaround as I had, and he is also thinking of switching to the powerbook and has asked me to provide feedback based on my experience of switching.

So, it's a good resolution. Not the most perfect one, cause I was still locked into BB's offerings, but I can live with the results.

Just to give you all hope. Remember it DID take me a LONG time to get what I wanted though, and I was VERY persistent. :D

As I said in your newer thread, congratulations on getting around to BestBuy :)
