I have a TOSHIBA Satellite M305D-S482. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and the laptop has 3GB RAM. I have an older Radeon HD2400 plugged in for testing (when I get this to work, I will buy a good card for it).

When everything is turned on and I boot the laptop, I can see it post on the external monitor. But when it gets tot he Windows starting screen, it freezes. The laptop continues to load windows, I even hear the start up sound when it enters the desktop but the picture is frozen.

Iam going through this thread to try and trouble shoot but the instruction are so generic, I really needs some one on one help. I have tried Solution#2 (ATI) : Use DNA-AMD drivers as described. with no results.

When I check the display adapter in device manager, I'll get one of two messages, either there is no driver installed or I get the error 12.

Is anyone willing to take some time and help me out?

UPDATE: I pulled out one stick of ram to see if that made any difference, it didn't.

Update so now Device manager says the device is working but there are no resouces for it.

    I see this advice
but when I fallow the link, I get to a confusing website and I don't know what driver's I'm supposed to download.

EDIT: Will purchasing the Setup 1x software solve my problem? I don't want to buy it if the chances are low.

Ok so I went ahead an purchased the setup software. Do they mail it do you or do they send you a download link? They don't really say how to get the software after you buy it.

It's been a couple of days now, I ordered the software on Saturday. I still don't have a way to get it though. Does anybody have some advice.
