Newbie getting overwhelmed with information here,

I have an HP Elitebook 8540w with
    i7 quad core 720QM 1.6ghz
    nvidia quadro FX 880M
    8GB ram

I read there is a problem with the lack of Intel HD Graphics?
    TOLUD = C = 3.0 , am I right?

Is there a foolproof guide on how to complete this project?
    step-by-step instructions, buying tips etc?

    Many thanks

Hi I am also getting overwhelmed with info. I have been browsing the experiences thread a while now and I am still pretty lost.
If someone could point out a thread with all the basic descriptions that would be great.

    My Specs are as follows:
    Computer: HP elitebook nc8440p
    CPU: i5 580m 2.67GHz
    Graphics: Intel HD Graphics
Ram: 4GB DDR3 (single slot, could chuck in another one and bump it up to 8GB for dual memory threading madness)
    OS: Win 7 Professional 64bit
    HDD: Samsung 840 250GB SSD
    More system info: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/...in.html#spectype=canada&type=html&docid=13520

I used PC wizard to look up my express card slot info and this is what I got:

    PCI-Express Information :
    Number of connectors : 1

    PCI-Express Base : 0xE000000

    Bus PCI-Express :

Device : 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset family PCIe port 1
    Version : 2.0

    Port : 1

    Physical Slot : #0

    Slot Populated : No

    Link Width : max. x1

    Link Speed : 2.5 GB/s

    Bus PCI-Express :

Device : 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset family PCIe port 2
    Version : 2.0

    Port : 2

    Physical Slot : #0

    Slot Populated : No

    Link Width : max. x1

    Link Speed : 2.5 GB/s

    Bus PCI-Express :

Device : 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset family PCIe port 4
    Version : 2.0

    Port : 4

    Physical Slot : #0

    Slot Populated : Yes

    Link Width : x1 (max. x1)
    Link Speed : 2.5 GB/s

I do have an external Expresscard 54 slot, I take it means that I am on the 60% threshold (due to the 2.5GB/s thing).

Should I be going for this:
    PE4L V2 1B EC2C 60cm Flat Hdmi EC 060A GEN 2 PCI E PCI E Slot Adapter | eBay
    or this:
    PE4H V2 4A 60cm Flat Mini Hdmi EC2C Expresscard TO PCI E Adapter | eBay

I still haven't figured out what I am limited to yet. Also what sort of graphics card should I look at, something like this maybe?

    PowerColor HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 | Trade Me
FYI this is my countries equivalent of ebay (New Zealand).

I want to try and stay away from desktop PSU's (they are pretty massive) as power bricks are cheap and I have access to loads of them.

    All Help Appreciated!
