Hello,
I been following the eGPU thread on and off for several month now. I really want to have an eGPU but I dont know if I have enough knowledge to do so. However, it is summer break time, so I really want to give it a shot and hope some of you can help.
My Laptop is
X220T (apparently one of the most common one here)
I5 with 8gb of ram
SSD drive that I installed.
From what I gathered the setup should only require me to purchase 3 items.
Graphics Card: 560Ti is there some feature I should be looking for?
Powersupply: ??any recommendation??
PE4L 2.1 for best speed ( http://www.hwtools.net/adapter/PE4L-EC000A.html) can someone check to make sure it is the right one?
After that I plugs the Graphics and Powersupply to the PE4L and then shove it in my expresscard slot and I am done? Is there anything I have to do in bio?

From what I know, that should be it.
Since your 560Ti runs at about 170watt, you should get anything above 260 watts, (170watt+75watt for pcie port)
Here's a pretty cheap psu which should meet your requirments:
Coolmax 400-W Power Supply - V-400, 400-Watt, ATX, 80mm Fan, SATA-Ready, 20/24-Pin, Power Supply at TigerDirect.com
Now to connect the psu to the PE4L is the kinda tricky part, but anyone can do it. First you need this 5.5 x 2.1mm CCTV DC Power Male Jack Connector (10-Pack) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
After you get the dc adapter part, connect the yellow and black wire from the molex psu to your jack. The picture elaborates more.
you're welcome -

1. The ATX PSU connects directly to the PE4L 2.1b using it's floppy connector. In addition a molex-to-floppy adapter is supplied with the PE4L in the event your PSU has molex but no floppy connector. Means there is no need for that linked dealextreme CCTV DC connector.
2. If using a GTX560Ti rated at 170W then that is the *total* power (including the slot). That means could get by with a basic 12V/16A PSU. In fact, I was using one to power my MSI GTX560Ti. If intending to overclock the GTX560Ti then the power can scale up considerably. techpowerup.com tests and lists peak power consumption of several GTX560Ti cards. -
Can I do it?
