    Hi all,

So I've acquired a ThinkCentre M72e Tiny Desktop and successfully upgraded the CPU to the i7 3770K.

Everything is working fine except idle temps are a little high, running at nearly 60 degrees.

The BIOS does not allow modifications to the voltages.

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) is not supported on 3rd gen chips, so I'm at a loss.

Is there any way I can under volt my 3770K?

Have you tried using ThrottleStop before?

Ive never tuned 3rd gen chips so not too sure what is available to play with personally

I did, however, the Intel Fully Integrated Voltage Regulator (FIVR) is only available on Haswell chips :(

If you are looking at idle temperature maybe a delid will help.

If this unit is anything like my M92p then you are likely limited to 35w chips from the factory so taming those temperatures without throttlestop will come down to delids and increasing your heat displacement efficiency as much as possible.

Delids, HVAC tape and Liquid metal are likely to be the easiest methods of chasing that objective. After that comes down to fan profiles (if you can control them), replacing for higher CFM fan (if you can take advantage) and replacing the aluminum for copper mass (exhaust)
