Hello. I have an question. In all of my games my 8700K got temps like 70-85C max.

Watch Dogs 2 ( cpu intensive too and similiar cpu load to AC ORIGINS ) - temps 70-80C

    GTA V - temps - 70-80C

Call of Duty WW 2 - temps 70-80C

Final Fantasy XV benchmark - temps 70-80C

    Doom 60-75C

    3dmarks - 80C

But playing Assassins Creed Origins ,on Alexandria city temps are balancing between 90C to spikes 100C on 1 core. There is no throttling. And my question is can i still play or stop it?

My 8700K is with cooler Cryorig M9i.

Asus Z370 Pro Gaming. MCE is automatically ON with XMP profile.

So clock is high 4700mhz. Thanks for opinion

I want just only to finish game. Should i stop playing or i can finish game?

anything above 85c is not good. Be happy you don't play games such as Witcher 3, crysis 3 or Ashes of the Benchmark.

Undervolt, delidd and decent thermal paste will get your temps good again.

Those are very good temps. Remember, you have a 6 core CPU running at very high speeds in a small laptop chassis. Count your blessings that your temps are that good!

No these temps even with that CPU cooler are complete trash. In addition Asus MCE default voltage is freaking insanely high. I am talking on the order of 1.4+v at stock BIOS values. DO NOT USE MCE OR DEFAULT VOLTAGES.

First, turn off MCE (yes you can turn off MCE even with XMP enabled on Asus boards). Enable XMP, it should give you the option to also turn on MCE, select NO to that. If you don't get a prompt to turn off MCE, manually go and turn it off after you enable XMP.

Second go to advanced mode and AI Tweaker:
    AVX Offset : 0
CPU Core Ratio: Sync All Cores
1-Core Ratio Limit: 47 (will sync all to 47)
    CPU Core/Cache Voltage: Manual Mode
--CPU Core Voltage Override: Start at 1.250v. Then adjust up or down in 5-10mV increments until stable. At 47x you should be able to go down a lot further depending on your chip quality.

    Last go to AI Tweaker/Digi+VRM
CPU Load Line Calibration set to level 6 or maybe level 7 to minimize vdroop. Your board is pretty mid to low end and you will probably see larger vdroop under load.

The 8700k is a pretty toasty CPU. Even under a custom water loop, I've seen it get quite warm. Generally speaking, there really isn't any cause for alarm if you're under 84C. There is a grey area between 84C ~ 87C; those temps are technically OK, but personally I'm not comfortable with temps that exceed 84.

Dude I push my 7820HK in to the 90’s at times, it’s not throttling and It doesn’t skip a beat! Plus the 4.72Ghz on a laptop makes it worth it.

    85C is fine!

Oh wow, for my desktop CPU Intel i7 4790k with Corsair liquid cooling, I got max 60 C when maxed AC:O out, so GPU was 80 C.

For a laptop, 80c is fine, for a desktop, perfect scenario is 60c, you can hope for ~70c, 80 is pretty high for anything, 90 is DANGER, and 100 is RISK DAMAGE TO CPU (my i5 runs at 40c under load with ****ty low profile stock cooler)

Yeah, the number I've seen most quoted and seems to be the most accurate comes from der8auer who said that people should aim for under 85c during 24/7 use. Personally I feel the same way you do and try to keep my chip under 84c (and ideally much lower than that).

Exactly. It is a demanding game so the temps noted are not out of the ballpark.

I can't believe you guys are advocating for 80+ degrees is fine, no it is not, it is degrading, especially during spikes reaching higher temperatures.

    Delid it or undervolt/clock it.

    This is absurd.

edit: and one big colossal giant universal middle finger to $hitel for providing toothpaste between IHS and the die, while charging premium

According to derBauer anything under 85c is acceptable. Degrading etc. starts at 85+.

But yeah, for a desktop the temps are really terrible. Should be 60s.
