I am going to buy a laptop soon. I am thinking about the Vostro 1510, but the new Studio line is good, too. For me, the build quality it's very important. I heard that Vostro has some magnesium parts, but i also heard this:

"Namely, the plastics used in the chassis feel thin and in some areas, such as above the keyboard and on the palmrests, there is a significant degree of flex. The edges of the chassis are also sharper than what we've seen on earlier Dell notebooks and these sharp edges and thin plastics make the design of the Dell Vostro 1510 feel slightly unfinished or unrefined."
    + 1510 hasn't got a lock hinge :|

About the Studio... i don't have much info really.

So which one is sturdier? Help please...

I think that was the older Vostros (1500 etc.)

The 1510 looks very similar in design to the Studio 15... I'm not sure whether it's actually any different or not other than in styling (and marketing, sales channel, support, etc.)

Oh yeah, the Studio seems to use some newer components (graphics card, etc.).

yeah, i think the older vostros have the "strong" magnesium components. The newer versions had to be redesigned to be lighter and less bulkier. They still do have the magnesium alloy though, probably not much better than the studio 15 though. I think they're equal in sturdiness.

Can somebody comment on this a little more. I would love to get some user experience between vostro 1510 and studio 1535. I am going to pick amongst these two. My priority is looks and glossy screen.

If you are worried about the look the inspiron model is more stetic, it is really nice, and it beats the Vostros design, i would say that the Inspiron has a better look than the XPS 1530 I've been working with Inspirons and i love the design, i currently own an XPS 1530, and the model of the Vostro is not that good, Id go for the Inspiron studio.

Obviously, just not the top of the line options. Though it still uses the newer Penryns.

Um, why exactly are advertising the lenovo t61p in a Dell forums? Why does your signature at the time of writing have a member of the "Apple Core"? Thats messed up. XD
