I just go a new dell laptop. I just got a few questions.

-The laptop comes with a recovery partiton of 10GB and of these there are only used 6.7GB is there a reason for the extra space?

-Also it comes with a Vista DVD, I suppose it is a Recovery DVD and not the actual setup DVD?

-And if is it there a diference between installing (recovering) the OS from the HDD or from the DVD? The thing is that I want to have that extra space.

-And... how do i get rid of the recovery partition?

    Thanks

    2. Yep
    3. Nope.
    4. Either reformat or use Vista Disk Management.

    Thanks for the replay :D

The thing is that I want to install Ubuntu and for that I need 2 free partitions.

So... without the recovery partition I have 1 free, I need 1 more... so... I have a few more questions.

Without de Dell MediaDirect the multimedia buttons that are on the front of the notebook will stop working? If so, is there any other way to get them working without MediaDirect? Or can MediaDirect be in a Secondary HDD partition?

What is the Dell Utility partition actually for? If i get rid of it, and since it is at the beginning of the HDD will i have a problem booting (althought i think i cannot get rid of it without formating)
