    Hi,

I'm about to order a Dell Vostro 1500 - It needs to be tomorrow before the offer expires:

    BASE Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2-cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® XP Professional - English
SUPPORT SERVICES Base Warranty - 1 Year Business Hardware Support
    LCD 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA+ (1440 x 900) Display with TrueLife
INTEGRATED WEBCAM Matte Jet Black with 2.0 mega pixel camera
    MEMORY 3072MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (1x1024 + 1x2048 MB)
HARD DRIVE 160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
    GRAPHICS CARD 256MB nVidia® GeForce® 8600M GT
OPTICAL DRIVE Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive
PRIMARY BATTERY Primary 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (56 WHr)
    £525 delivered

I just have a few questions before ordering that I'd be grateful if somebody could answer:

Firstly... is there anything you'd change in that setup?

Is the 1440x900 screen more likely to be 'grainy' like some people have complained about over the 1280x800 version?

Last, and this is the most important because I want to use headphones on it quite a lot, does anyone know if they've fixed the headphone crackling issue? "Chris" a moderator on the Dell forum says "It's my understanding that currently shipping 1500 systems are not experiencing this issue." but I don't really believe that. Even if it does come with this issue, can it definitely be fixed? If not I might have to buy elsewhere which is a shame because it seems a great deal.

    Any answers would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    1. I would change the RAM to the lowest amount possible and then upgrade it yourself for like 1/3 of what Dell charges for RAM. You will save a lot of money that way. I just got 1gb which was the lowest amount possible on my 1500 setup and just ordered 2gb for like $30 after rebate.

    2. I have heard that only the WXSGA+ are having most of the problems.

    3. I'm not sure about the headphone question, but I hope they fixed it as my system is coming this week.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply - 3GB seems to be the minimum you can order a Vostro with in the UK at the moment for some reason.

Also - I appear to have posted this in the wrong forum somehow could a moderator move it?

    Thanks!

Wow, that's odd. They must love their RAM in the UK! :p

I'm thinking of ordering a Vostro 1700 before the offer expires also.
