    I have a vostro 1500, that i want to leave AIM up and running on. Is there anyway i can make it so my internet stays going when i shut my laptop?

    Well with xp you can go into control panel/ power options/ advanced and where is says "When I close the lid on my portable computer" change it to "Do nothing" from "Stand by". Should be similar in vista.
