    Hi,

    Long time reader of this board, i finally decided to join so i can post my two pence worth.

    I have ordered the below Laptop (see sig.) on 03/01/08 and i got what i thought was a pretty good deal (let me know if i'm wrong) until i found out how long it would be until i get my new lappy. Nearly a month, thats how long!!!! When i was ordering there was no warning of this delay.

    Is anyone else having the same issues at present who have ordered this system?

    Mine is similar but not that long!
    3 weeks for the inspiron 1720! I think its probably due to a huge build up of xmas orders and they're a bit short on certain parts...

    Is your still in pre-prod? If it is, 16/01 is looking like an unlikely EDD

    i've emailed them yesterday they said it was in production but they were waiting for some components but today when i emailed them they said its still in production although when i asked them if they were still waiting for some components they said they dont know.. so hopefully they're actually building it ready to be shipped on monday/tuesday...

    Ok just been messing around on the dell website and i think i have found out why it taking so long... if you order your laptop with the 6 cell battery there is a warning that says something about it taking 4 weeks to be delivered.

    Obviously Dell must be having a shortage of 6 cell batteries... what a thing to run low on tho! lol

    This must be recent becuase it was not there when i ordered mine!

    Ok... weird... just checked order status and its been depatched plus just got an automated call to arrange delivery it should delivery 2moz (16th) :O never even saw it go thru the other phases in building it was still in pre-prod yesterday!

    Quick question about the automated call, when its says Press 1 for morning or 2 for afternoon delivery what happens if u didn't choose? Coz it just hung up before i had chance to pick!!

    Iceman did yours turn up?

    first question: dunno.

    nah my edd changed a few days ago from 16th of jan to the 21st of feb... so yesterday i quickly cancelled and ordered one off ebay which arrived today :) to hell with del directl! outlet all the way :)
