I have just purchased a Dell Vostro 1500 and would like to take a full backup so I can restore it to its current state if anything goes wrong.

In the past I have used a combination of Bart PE / Ultimate Windows CD with Ghost. I boot the drive using the CD and then do a full image copy (disk to Image) to create a full image. This has always worked fine in the past but when I try this on the Vostro, although it seems to make the image ok, when I try to restore it the Vostro it seems to work fine but won't boot to Windows. It just loops through the opening screen where it displays the white bar and bios details. I then have to do a full reinstall using the supplied Dell discs.

Am I doing something wrong or will this method of back up no longer work? If it doesn't work anymore can anyone tell me a method I can use to get the results I desire?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Many Thanks
